sfc/scannow error-still can`t fix it

i posted a few days with this post
i went to run system file checker tonite& i received this error message.i am not on any network & i am the only user.i am not sure if attachment will work so this is the message if not
WindowsFileProtection could not initiate scan
specific error code is0x000004DD[the operation being requested was not performed because the user has not logged onto network]the specified server does not exist.
what would cause this error.i am not on a network
thnx for help.
i have been unable to fix this.i have at times had the error,also about
RPC server not available.i have looked at ms website but cannot find my specific error.any help appreciated

Just a guess. Look in the registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
whether any value for DriverCachePath, Installation Sources , ServicePackSourcePath or SourcePath points to something that looks like a network address.

May perhaps give some hints what to look for. Only thing I could find.
Perhaps post why you are trying to run sfc. If you have any issues with XP, they may be related to this problem.
