May I know how to i setup a FTP server in WinXP so that my friends can ftp to my PC to retrieve and share files? Must i install IIS with minimal setup, example, just install FTP services, etc?

And how do i go about setting it up so that the ftp users can only see some folders only? Thanks

Or install a 3rd party FTP server like G6 FTP for instance.

i dont know if it is me but IIS when it is installed screws up alot of my internet apps, page unavailable errors and so forth i'd opt for zedrics option of a 3rd party ftp server

and did i mention it eats up alot of resources which cant be turned off unlike a 3rd party app

Where can i find the FTP services as indicate on the MMC? I do not have the IIS snap in to configure the FTP service. By the way, i have already install the ftp services.

install IIS ... and index services. Also, if u want a 3rd party software I recommend Bullet Proof FTP.

yup, Bulletproof or G6 are easy to configure FTP programs.. can't see why you would need IIS though if they just want to connect and d/l.. I used to have G6 ftp set up on my home PC and could transfer files from the office throughout the day..

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
