I have a AS/400 on our network at the main store. IP address 159.61.51.199 Subnet 255.255.255.0
My computer has 2 ethernet cards and a modem.
ISP IP 192.168.1.2 subnet 255.255.255.252 gateway 192.168.1.1
LAN side 192.168.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.255 gateway 192.168.0.1
Modem 159.61.51.206 subnet 255.255.255.255 gateway 159.61.51.208
Remote server Lan side 159.61.51.207 subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 159.61.51.210
Remote server Modem 159.61.51.208 subnet 255.255.255.255

From my computer I can ping teh AS/400 .199 and a tracert reveals that the remote server is acting invisable so it appears
bla bla bla 159.61.51.208
bla bla bla 159.61.51.199

I want to be sure I am doing this right, I have RIP enabled on my XP machine, and Remote routing. Debian 192.168.0.5 can ping the modem 159.61.51.206 locally, but not any remote PC's or teh AS/400.

So I setup a route on my XP machine (route add 159.61.51.199 mask 255.255.255.255 159.61.51.206) so that any quierys would be directed through the modem.

I cannot setup or do mot understand how to setup a static route in Debain. I have read help more tiems than I care to think about.

route add 159.61.51.199 255.255.255.255 159.61.51.206

but it returns

inet_route add|del|show {-host|-net} Target bla bla bla

so I tried

inet_route add -host 159.61.51.206 -net 255.255.255.255 159.61.51.199

still no joy...

I have already whacked teh keyboard on teh tower. Any thoughts?

are you trying to setup the default route? so that all unknown destination traffic go through the modem?

would be something like this then I would think
route add default <ip of modem>

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
