setting will not be saved

I'm running XP Pro. When I go to: System
Properties/Advanced/Performance/Visual Effects and remove any checkmarks
from "Fade or slide menus, Fade or slide tooltips, or Slide open combo
boxes" , my settings will not save. I click "Apply" and "OK", but after 10
seconds , the checkmarks are back again. What gives?
Please help!

are you running any other programs such as Tweak XP or such? it can overrride the settings i've noticed since you can also change the setitngs in there

Thanks for answering, but no. If I knew where int he registry this was being set, I could edit the settings manually.
