I have already set up an apache, mysql, php server on my windows xp laptop, connected via a wireless router. It runs well, however, I am wondering if it would run faster on a Linux distro of some sort. It runs well here http://fst.sonichost.co.uk and I keep it on 24/7...

I am thinking of dual booting Linux / Windows XP and set up apache under Linux.

Which is the best Linux version with a GUI, like windows, and is the easiest to configure, etc...

Its not the easiest distro, but slackware is a good choice chosen by many for servers.
If you want help with dual booting XP and Slackware 10 i have wrote a tutorial here.

Easy to configure and nice GUI isn't really something I connect with Slackware. :p

If you want easy setup and don't want to poke around the inner workingsof a Linux system, I suggest Fedora. http://fedora.redhat.com

I've always found this to be the easiest to install and get to work. It's not the fastest or best distro in some senses, but for what you'relooking for I'd say it's what you want.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
