Setting CMD startup directory

How can you adjust the directory that CMD starts in, can't seem to find it in the preferences anywhere.

I don't think you can modify where it starts in if you just type in cmd at the run prompt.

However if you have it as a shortcut or icon in your quick launch bar you can just right click and change where it starts from there, but other then that I don't think you can change it.

Yes that worked, putting a shortcut and setting the start directory. I love some things in XP, but boy there are some dumb things too :)

Glad Q's idea worked for you. Also if you haven't already noticed, while viewing in windows explorer, if you right click on a folder, the menu will have "Open Command Window Here"

Just another tip.

Tek!

no it doesn't, not unless you put the feature in yourself

i have it don't remember changing anything in my right clicker lately

I have posted a tweak(reg) in this forum that does this ..

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
