That's what you get for visiting those naughty sites.

Welll there's two things that you can try. The first is do a virus scan, sometimes its a java script virus thats doing this to you, at least thats been my experience. The second thing is to go into your registry and search for runonce and see if there is anything being loaded by those keys thats could be causing this.

hey contender if you stop your porn addiction i can help you! firstly it uses a java exploit which Norton antivirus detects straight away and then once thats removed i think you can safely set your homepage without it changing

so get your self a virus scanner and if you have 1 scan the system and if it dont detect it get a better virus scanner. id go for NAV 2003

i have NAV2003, AD-Aware, several trojan scanners. i have scanned my system and all have come back clean or i have cleaned if anything was found.

where in the registry is the start page set for IE? and btw its not a porn site that it keeps changing back to, its www.canoe.ca a canadian news site.

Have you downloaded any software from that site? if so try removing it see if that helps.

The registry key for IE's start page is
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
and look for the "start page" string.

re StartPage

I caught ms7531 once and removed it with Spyware but 1 exe file refused to go, I had to go back to DOS. It's fully gone now but till this day the name of this annihilated trojan winks at me from the Registration summary. I followed Rettahc's instructions but Unchecking the box in HelpProgram SystConfig doesn't help, this changes the settings from Standard to Selective StartingUp. Although this pagepirate is not a real problem anymore, seeing its name there irritates me. So how can I erase it from my Registration? (no RegClean-suggestions please, I was warned that this and other such cleaners also wipe your Help&Support programs!)
