Is there any way to change Internet Explorers default search method? For example when you type something into the address bar and it's not a URL it will end up searching on MSN. Can it be changed?

Drill down to the following key in your registry and replace the URL with whatever search engine you want.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search

There are two keys you need to edit:

- CustomizeSearch
- SearchAssistant

I've set mine to Google, you can use whatever.

P.S. If you aren't familiar with editing your registry, PLEASE make a backup copy first!

What's the exact lines you put in?

I wanna use Google as well.

I also have IE setup the following way:

g words_to_search == searches google
y words_to_search == searches yahoo
I use it a lot that way

Ep, glad to see you come back and tidy up...did want to ask a one day favor, I want to enhance my resume , was hoping you could make me administrator for a day, if so, take me right off since I won't be here to do anything, and don't know the slightest about the board, but it would be nice putting "served administrator osnn", if can do, THANKS

Been running around Quora lately, luv it there https://tinyurl.com/ycpxl
