Hello,

I know a way to speed bootup time is to disable unused services/apps from running at startup. Figuring out which apps do what is pretty straightforward, but what do the services in a typical xp system do? I don't want to go through the process of blindly disabling a service and see what it does (or doesn't do). Is there an article or list that explains each of these services do? Of course there will be some variance from system to system, but there will be many common ones.

Thats usually the first thing I do after a Windows install. I've had XP running on 14. Then a few more were installed with Norton and Zone Alarm. Beware though, some of those you might need that he has disabled.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
