Hi Guys,

Is there any services that I need turned on for my XPHome to take updates? The updates download from Windows site, but it does not install successfully. I do have quite a few services turned off on this machine. I am thinking it might be a service.

Thanks in advance.

windows update fails to install if you have one of the services turned off, i think it may be a windows installation one and/or one of the encryption ones. cant check as im not at home.

Cryptographic Services and Automatic Updates must be running in order for the updates to install.

Thanks, Muzikool

I do know that Automatic Updates actually doesn't need to be turned on (I like to manually take care of that), but I did not know about the Cryptographic Service.......

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
