serial ata disk not recognized correctly

Hello, I own a Maxtor serial ata HDD (mode6). Windows xp
detects it, but the problem is that the transference mode
is incorrect. The hard disk works as DMA mode 5 when it
should be DMA mode 6 (the bios of the mainboard detects it correctly). I've tried the drivers that came
with the mainboard's cd, but it still does not work.
Maxtor says in a faq board that this is a problem of
microsoft and that microsoft will release a patch to
solve it. Is that true? Can anybody help me? Thanks in
advance.

My system is:
PIV 2.6
1 gb RAM
120 GB serial ata HDD
p4p800 asus mainboard

weird, i wouldn't think s-ata hd's would use the same modes as the parallel drives. after all, mode6 is 133mb/sec... so how you would get the 150mb/sec of s-ata? even though i know the difference in negligible.

Yes that is a known fault.
It was supposed to be a main driver /SP1 fault on gigabyte recent boards, I believe.
