Sending files through messenger

I've noticed that when I try to send a file through windows messenger on and the fire wall on it does'nt send. Is there anyway around this apart form disconecting and turning off the fire wall?

Which Firewall are u using? If it's the XP built in one, u have to turn it off.

Create a firewall rule to allow the following ports through it:

6891-6901 (thats all ports from 6891 through 6901)
