ok im trying to remove the default games from WIn 2k. Iv done it beofre but cant rem how. IM folowing this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314614&Product=win2000

But when i get to this step

4. Click Add/Remove Windows Components, and then click Components.
5. After the Windows Components Wizard starts, click to select the Accessories and Utilities check box in the Components box, and then click Details.
Im not seeing the option.. I feel stupid this should be really really easy..

Does anyone know or have a scrip that just autoimatically does this?

Hmm, I didnt look at the instructions until after I was thinking abut i, but it looks correct. You are right it shouldnt be that difficult, Let me see if we still have any 2K boxes here with the games on them... doubt it though...

How to add Accessories to Add/Remove Windows Components
Run Notepad
Open the file "\%systemroot%\inf\sysoc.inf"
Find the base components section and remove the word "HIDE" -- i.e. Games=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,games.inf,HIDE,7
Save the file

Then you can remove those items by going into add/remove Windows Components.

I agree with MadMatt, at least I know that works on XP. The options for games are hidden by default, and his tweak will un-hide

I totally forgot about that - use it to uninstall Windows Messenger occasionally.

Nice call madmatt.

You took out the comma. Bad move.

Games=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,games.inf,,7

i acually tried both. with comma in and with comma out. still no dice. hehe

Here is the correct file from a Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 Rollup 1 Box

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
