Screwed up sites

I have Earthlink DSL and a Linksys router. I can't load up certain websites such as brinkster.com , webcrawler.com or sparknotes.com Other sites load up fine. I don't know why.

i would suggest that it has somthing to do with your proxy not being set up properly.

phone your isp technical support and ask them to give you your proxy information - or ask them to guide you through the steps to change it.

mtu is set too high.

A high MTU would effect all sites not some. But just to be sure make sure your MTU isn't set at 1500 as that can cause problems with DSL

okie dokie, jeremy is way out of his league here. :) ignore what i have to say hehe.

hope u solve your problem.

That is not true whatsoever. I had a problem a few months ago with the MTU being set too high and only certain sites would not load, I lowered the MTU and every site loaded perfectly after that.

well i don't know all these acronyms yet. now whats the mtu and how do i set it? internet options?

maxumim transmission unit. You edit it through the registry. or you can download cablenut and it will do all the tweaking for you.

ADSL issue
I have a small network with PCs (XP, W98-2, Millenium) and Mac (OS9).
I have a new ADSL Internet connection (dynamic IP)
The XP machine is the internet administrator.
First thing I´ve done:
I checked the boxes to share Internet with the other computers (they have static IP: 192.168...) and to enable the personal firewall.
All is working fine but the clients could not download email from a certain server (using Eudora, Outlook, Incredimail) as the XP server does.
The Pop server shows the number of messages and they begin to download but only a bite.
The same thing is happening browsing a few websites, it is impossible to access to them. (weather.com)
I don´t know if it is a coincidence but those site "refuse" the ping command.

I was making some tests. I changed the internet server for a computer with W98-2 and all those problems have gone.

I need the machine with XP to be the internet server.

I was making another tests:
I disabled XP internet sharing and security and I´ve tried with Winproxy, Winroute and Wingate (third-party software), ZoneAlarm (as a firewall)(enabling and disabling it) but always the same problem with those servers.
Any ideas are welcome. Thanks

(I´ve tried with cablenut but without good news)

Why do you need the computer with xp to be the server?
Your using a seimens speedstream router right? i had some problems with the same one

Because it is more powerfull than the others (I saw some other compatibility software problems making test in these computers)
My router is "speed touch Home" Alcatel.
I insist that the problems are not in the server but in the client computers.

Any of the SP crew still out there?
