Screensaver 3d

Hi,

When I click on 'Display Properties' the computer is fine. If I click
on any 3d screensaver. It crashes my computer.

Why is this, can any one help me please.

No blue screen. My computer just freezes and it takes ages for it to sort it self out. Most of time i have to turn computer off.

Are you running the Seti client program in the systray? That is, is it set to process data always, even when the screen saver isn't running?

Yes, I have seti running all the time, but not as screensaver.

I use windows xp as screensaver.

I've contacted Seti @home about this in the past and got no response from them. Thier client program uses ALL unused CPU cycles available and releases only what is needed by other programs. But if the other program is a 3D screensaver, the client doesn't release CPU cycles and the two programs lockup.

In short, if you are going to use a 3D screen saver, you can't run Seti@home. The exception are the excellent screen savers found at http://www.reallyslick.com/ which are really cool and free.
