Screen goes black when streaming video over network

When my wife is watching a video or DVD from my hard drive over the network, my computer will sometimes just go to a black screen and crash at random times. It works fine when I'm copying files with no problems, but when they're being streamed for long periods of time, the crashes come.

I replaced the network card with a shiny new $30 intel gigabit one but the problem is still occurring. I just replaced the cable between my computer and the router as well, hoping it will fix it.

Any network geniuses run into this problem and have any ideas what it might be?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
