sb live - I know has been here lots of times

I did get the whole sb-live thing to work with a little trick and the EAX , Audio HQ and Surround Mixer are working fine .

But there is some fine crackeling noise - what is that and how will I get rid of it ?

That is interfearence from data being pushed across the bus...your best bet would be to try changing the slot that the SB is in and make sure you downloaded their new drivers. also make sur ethe soundboard is not near your graphic card or near a harddrive controller if you use a PCI one

sorry but I am not sure that I understand this , because the hardware is still where it was while I was running 98SE - the only thing missing is the updated VIA 4in1 - and I asked about the 4in1 here in the forum but nobody answered about that

Yes, the hardware was fine in Win98SE where it was, but with XP it's a little more finicky 🙂 as I said you can try getting the via $ in 1's but if the problem still occurs your gonna have to try a slot switch most likely =/
