Hi Guys,

According to powerstrip and display properties, I am running a 9600 non-pro card. (as compared to frequencies on ATI's site). I phoned ATI, they told me that my card is in fact a 9600pro (as per my p/n). They told me that if I am concerned that there is something wrong with my card, I should mail it to them for further testing. They also said that powerstrip is not a valid frequency tester. I asked them what can I use that is valid. I got no response. I would like to know what you think, do I or don't I have a valid concern that requires attention?

Attached is the powerstrip scan

Yeah I have a 9600pro .. clock should be 400/600 ... I would try another program to test clock speeds. Maybe try something like ATITool and see what clocks it shows.

there is nothing wrong with your card...

it is showing as a 9600 SERIES card... which includes the pro... your clocks are correct for a 9600pro... nothing to worry about..

my card shows as a 9700 series card for comparison's sake...

I noticed the other day that the clcoks for the 9600xt are damn high, around 500 ? :O

its a redone card... higher clocks on core and mem...

EP... its on the 0.13 micron process and uses low-k dielectrics... it is only expected it would clock higher than a 0.15 micron process gpu with about 30 million more trannies and no low-k dielectrics...

Hi Sazar,

Does my computer setup effect VPU clock speeds? ATI says so. I always presumed that clock speed on the VPU were always totally independant of the system it is sitting in.
Would you be so kind as to explain to me why 9600Pro says 400/600 (mem/eng) on ATI site and mine spits out 300/400? I did buy this card because of the numbers on their site. I guess I really would like one because so next time that I buy one, I will be better prepared to decipher what is really I am getting and what the manufacturer is saying.

Thanks you in advance,

Heeter

your core (engine) clock is 400mhz.. or 399 if you want to nitpick :)

you memory clock is 300 mhz... since the memory is ddr you market it as 300x2 == 600mhz...

ergo the card you have right now is running full speed @ 400/600mhz for core/mem RIGHT NOW...

there is nothing wrong with it... it is operating @ exactly the right frequencies...

I am sooooo Sorry, Sazar.

Completely forgot the DDR part, just never even gave it a thought throughout.

I should of known better too. Thanks a million for sticking with me.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
