Interesting that drives with NCQ are coming out now. I hope Seagate releases one soon and that there are mobos with NCQ before christmas...

Any benchmarks on NCQ drives out yet btw?

I just finsihed a SATA Raid-5 setup at work. It depends on what you want to do. The next machine I build for myself will include SATA Raid-5 at home.

The main question to ask yourself with Raid-5. Do you plan to expand the storage space dynamically in the future. If you do, be prepaired to shell out some start up cash as the you'll need something simlar to the following from Adaptec: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=16-103-165&depa=0

If you don't plan on expanding dynamically, you can get away with the following card from HighPoint: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=16-115-014&depa=0

Bang for buck, SATA Raid-5 is the best way to aproach increasing your speed and reliability.

The HighPoint card only has two SATA ports. How could you ever run RAID 5 on that??

Looks better and more in the believable price range. I wish I could motivate the extra price of 4-5 disks plus that card instead of one or two disks...
