Hey gang I have a S.M.A.R.T. capable hard drive but i don't have it enabled on my mobo...What the heck is it and should I enable it??

Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology

Its a early-warning system for hard drive failure. If enabled, at booup the BIOS scans the drive, and S.M.A.R.T. reports whether the drive is about to fail or has failed or malfunctioned in some way. Programs like ActiveSmart provide realtime montioring of 35 essential mechanical parts of you hard drive from Windows.
