Ok, I'm working on my nephews computer, and it keeps shutting down after I try and install Microsoft updates. It give me a count down and then after the 60 second countdown it reboots. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Thanks in Advance
Mike

P.S What happened to the old forum?

Old Forums gone, all queries directed at the brick wall *points* (or check the news/announcements section of the forums 😉)

To stop the machine from shutting down, open up the run dialog and type "shutdown -a" sans quotes. Then head over to your local WindowsUpdate and grab everything you can, but most importantly the RPC patch 🙂

Ok Speedy I did that. It opened up a black window for a few seconds, then it went away. Is that what it's suppost to do? Thank you very much by the way 🙂

still people get hit by the blaster :|
man thats unfair i didnt even got it once 😛

blaster? was this a virus that hit it? I did a scan and it didn't come up.

Mike

you got struck by the blaster worm. MS has patch for it, so go get it. and no its not a virus and thus not picked up by antivirus scanners, but symantec and mcafee has special tools to remove it and adaware can do it 2
