Router security question

Hi peeps,

I have set up my router to host DF Task Force Delta. It is a D-link DI-713P, and has a 'virtual server'. I set the port forwarding etc and it works perfectly.

Now, my question is, does this bypass the built in firewall, and do I need to get a s/w one, or am I ok as is?

Thanks in advance.....

Your firewall will still work for most ports but the ports you opened for this server to work are possibly viewable/pingable/vunerable. As long as you didn't put the whole system in the DMZ, or opened all ports to that system you'll be fairly safe, because the server program should mask the ports it uses unless sent the correct codes to show the ports.
If you did then you'll need to get a Software Firewall for that system (Only if your worried about that system).

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
