I'm running 2 PCs through a DLink rounter. My PC runs with no problems but my daughters, her connection to the net is extremely slow. What would be causing this and how do I go about fixing it?

I'll be eternally indebted for the help cause then she'll stop naggin me :p

Can you give me the router information? What type of dlink (model) how many ports... the OS being run on all systems connected to the router.

Have you upgraded your firmware on the router?
do some tracerts to popular sites as well... like google and cnn. (from her puter)

It's a DLink DI-604, 4 port router. Both PCs are running XP Pro SP1 (SP2 f*cks up my video drives everytime I install it so I won't be upgrading to that again).

I haven't updated anything on my router. As for tracerts, what's that?

Start>Run type "cmd"

at the command prompt type
tracert osnn.net

then copy and paste the output from each machine here, or compare them and look for differences

That looks normal. Did it feel like Pita's took longer time to executethan yours? Like it took longer time before the dns names showed up byany chance?

Actually looked as if mine too longer  My connection seemed to be lagging lately so I shut her system down

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
