Right clicking on any drive icon causes lock up

When my frind right-clicks on any drive icon in My Computer, it just goes to the busy cursor and stays there. I have to go to Task Manager and end the process. It works fine in safe mode. He wants to reformat one of his zip disks.

What could cause the freeze-up?

What "process" are you ending in Task Manager when it locks up?

I would have him post a HijackThis log.

No, I meant ending the My computer application. It says in task manager that it is not responding.
