not 100% sure that these have to be from a redhat 8 system, but I need the following files from a linux based system

libgtk-1.2.so.0
libgdk-1.2.so.0
libXi.so.6
libXext.so.6
libX11.so.6
libpng.so.3
libjpeg.so.62

if you could Zip or gzip/bzip2 a Tarball of these files and attach it I would be very greatful

thank you

download the RPM's for em, and use the RPM command to extract them and then move them to the right place/

OK I googled and I have found all the resources I need, but now I am unsure as to how to get them out of the rpm files without having my existing FreeBSD resources overwritten

Won't they be on the redhat ftp somewhere?

man rpm .. has to be a flag :p
Extract individual files from an RPM

To extract an individual file from an rpm package without installing the rpm:

1.

Use rpm2cpio or rpm -qpl to list files and full paths in the package: rpm2cpio package | cpio -t

You need the full path name of a file to extract it in step 2.
2.

Use rpm2cpio to extract a file. Run this command from your home directory or /tmp in order to avoid overwriting any current system files.

rpm2cpio package | cpio -iv --make-directories full-path

This creates the full path in the current directory and extracts the file you specified.
3.

If you just want to convert it to a cpio archive, use

rpm2cpio package > cpio-archive-file

there is the rpm command, i bet tehre is an "extract" feature. Or something else.

well I have found the
rpm --root

option, and now I have to pretend to be a linux user and go forth and track down all of the annoying dependencies for the different rpms

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
