Return of the King thread

RotK rocked, so did revolutions. Both endings where great

I agree. I was highly satisfied with the resolution to Revolutions... no alliteration intended. ;)

It was bad :(
Felt like soft porn half of the time, the other half was filled with pretty fight scenes (Can't say anything bad about them :) )
And it pretty missed out on the ending.

Are you talking about RotK or Revolutions?

Heh, I was talking about RotK, but Revolutions sucked as well :(
RotK did a pretty good job killing anything Tolkien left for the readers imagination (again except for fight scenes, they where good) and Revolutions just sucked completely.

If you, as a reader, enjoy creating your own images from Tolkien's words, then why would you see the films? There's no room for your own imagination when you are watching someone else's interpretation.

benny's just being an ass :D

don't get all offended lol... he's just like that

Don't worry, not offended... I didn't make the films! :p
Just didn't make much sense to me is all.

Aww :p Here's an idea Sazar, why don't you go outside and play hide and go **** yourself :p

Moozikool, I'll rephrase that.
Visually, RotK was great. The director (Peter Jackson I think) did a really good job creating the world and the charterers.
But when it came to "emotional" scenes, it pretty much became something between a crappy afterschool special and a soft gay porn movie.

I saw it last night and ... WOW. I think it was a great ending to a great trilogy ... far far far better then matrix movies that became a very lame love story w/ lame fight scenes  Crazy part is it was 3.5hrs ... I can't wait to see whats in the 1hr 5mins cut from the theatre version :D

Watched it last night. Movie of the Year.

There were so many cool moments where I was blown away. My favorite moment was when Rohan came to the rescue - the hair at the back of my neck was standing :p

It was an awesome. Its one of my favorite movies now... :)

Doesn't matter to me if it is "true to the book". It doesn't take an hour for everyone to hug and give congrats for a victory. Watch it again. Every scene at the end seems to almost be in slow-mo.

heh heh, that's how i felt about the first one, which should have won a special oscar for "longest-winded speech within a death scene with an arrow in your chest."

Did anyone noticed the trolls opening the gates to Mordor in TTT?

Well they were out in daylight..

ner ner!!

OK so it's a really geeky thing to have noticed but they should have like turned to stone man!

Maybe it was ok cuz Mordor is "dark" ? There wasn't much real light other then the "eye".

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
