Here's the prob, hope someone can help me figure this out.

I have a problem connecting to windowsupdate.microsoft.com, I get connected but at first redirection I get a 404 error.
I found that my Update Component in %Windir%\Downloaded Program Files is corrupted... I guess this is the reason why all of a sudden my windowsupdate connection failed.

I was looking for someone who can tell me how can I replace that damaged component.
This happened to me with W2k some time ago and I remember MS gave the chance to re-download the advpack.exe to replace the core of wupdate ext, no way for XP...

you need to type sfc /scannow at the run prompt other wise it just lashes up the options

alternatily open a command window by running cmd and then type sfc to get the full list of options

Yes I know that... that's what I did!
What I meant is nothing happened AFTER the scan... the component is still missing.
