Renaming Recycle Bin?

See how you go with this>

open regedit and find the key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08 -00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder.

Select this, on the right there's a binary value called Attributes. Rightclick it, 'modify'.

Instead of 40 01 00 20 it should read 50 01 00 20 to have a 'rename' option. In XP, you'll also need to edit the dword string called "CallForAttributes" there. Set it to 0x00000000 (0)

thanks for the help

there isnt any way to show a flash sig on this forum is there?

Please search the forums before posting, i know there have been at least 2 threads about this!!

i already did search...couldnt find anything about renaming it

Simple way in XP (same as Hipster Doofus, but less typing):

Copy and paste this into a .txt file...
--------------------------------------------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder]
"Attributes"=hex:50,01,00,20
"CallForAttributes"=dword:00000000

--------------------------------------------------------
(don't copy dashed lines, just whats between)

Rename the .txt file to .reg - double click the file, add the info to your registry. Easy as pie.

Disclaimer:NTFS, myself, and anyone that's ever even looked or heard about this forum is not responsible for you screwing up your registry or your OS. Always back up your registry before changing it and be familiar with how to restore it.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
