I use windows xp home edition and so does a friend of mine. I would like to help her out with a problem she is having and have heard I can connect to her computer remotely from mine. I don't know how to do this. Can anyone help?

Thank you

PS
A step by step approach would be very helpful if you have the time.

Sorry but "Remote Assistance" only works with XP professional edition.
There is some third party software that someone might be able to advise you on that might help, the name escapes me.

Uhmmmm - that's strange - I am runing XP Home and have the Remote Assistance Tab available under My Computer/Properties!

The following from the University of Texas wewbiste:

Remote Assistance is included with both Windows XP Pro and Home Edition. Remote Desktop is NOT included with XP Home, but does come with XP Pro.

As a alternative to Windows Remote Desktop, try VNC, it's fast, secure and effective. I use it all the time at work and it's flawless, just make sure you set a password on the computer running the VNC server, and only start the service when needed.
You can download VNC from here, www.realvnc.com

Oh, and it's open source apparently.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
