registering dlls in XP

so I have this program, but it won't work. It says I'm missing this dll. Then, I go download the dll, and place it where it belongs. I open the program, but it still says I'm missing it. What do i do?

Let's say you want to regiseter a .dll named "thefile.dll" and it is in a folder named "folder" which is in the Windows folder on your c: drive

Go to START - RUN and type:

regsvr32 c:\windows\folder\thefile.dll
ENTER
