I was just about to use the refresh fix (Nvidia) but went to the display properties to check some stuff. Under the setting tab and then the advanced button, there is a monitor tab. Under this, there is the option to change the refresh rates from 60 Hertz to 85 Hertz (On my pc).

Has anyone actually done this and does it work or do I still have to install the refresh fix.

Thanks

that changes your monitor refresh rates:)
mine set at 85:)

set it to the max your onitor can handle

Do I still run the nvidia refresh rate fix. I have a geforve 4 or does changing my monitor to 85 Hertz fix the refresh rate.

either run the refresh rate fix or turn vsync off
vsync off i get 100fps in cs...but i choose to leave it on and play with 60fps...no biggie anyway

you should ideally turn off vsync... By turning on vsync you are forcing your hardware to try to slow down. This actually uses more calculations.

If you don't wan the screen tearing then just change your games maximum fps so it is a software setting rather than making your hardware work harder.

ie. for CS. max_fps 60 for a 60hz refresh rate etc =)

paid good money for vid card...make that ******* work...lol:)

I used refresh lock. Refresh rate fix (nvid) didn't work because couldn't find my adapter or something.

I think it worked but I still notice flickering in my games. How can I check if it worked?

Also, how do I turn off vsync?

After using refresh lock, the time my system takes to boot is around 10 seconds longer. Why's this happening and can I fix it?

why would i wan't 2 change the refresh rate?

btw my moniter can go up 2 100hertz:p

Wow, henyman, that really helps donkey doesn't it?

No offence,
If my monitor would go that high (well it does in 800x600 = 106 hZ, but who uses 800x600) prolly I would post a similar post.

Stop me if I am wrong.....

But the human eye can notice flickering below 72Hz. Causing eye strain and blurred (after a while) vision - WinXP defaults to 60Hz when you play you games etc.

So if you want to enjoy your game up the refresh rate above 72Hz.

However you must also remember that if you are refreshing at 100Hz it is probably unnoticeable to the human eye compared with say 85Hz, BUT the video card is forced to draw 100 screen images a second, waisting alto of memory and processing power that could reduce frame rate.

Ok how do I set my refresh rate to 60hz? or 100hz wahtever? I have Geforce utility tweaker.

I use it and it works on all updates of drivers. You can maually alter the settings then save them to the regestry and never have to worry about them again.;)

How is this done? How do you change a games fps to match the refresh rate?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
