Reformat HDD

My mobo went down and the vendor replaced it with the same model. Do you need to reformat the HDD or just put it together and let it ride?

Just plug it in. Hopefully the hdd won't even notice the difference.

I plug it in and have one slide problem; the IDEE2 (CD ROM) did showed up in the bios with a gargle of letters but not showed up in Windows. I'd change the cable but no luck. After pushing in and opening and closing the cd roms it finally came back to life.

Well, I had to format the HDD

I find a new mobo/CPU, either one requires a nice clean install to work properly with.

Normally that is all true Nick, but this was the same kind of board. Odd.

Maybe that unique mumbo jumbo number XP makes out of the hardware and the new mobo had a new serial number...?
