I disabled the firewall on this computer because its on 56k and its just a pain in my butt to try and unblock ports when I don't think anyone is going to try and hack into a 56k machine... just wouldn't be practicle. anywho after i disabled the windows firewall i get a warning everytime i start windows and a little red shield on my task bar which annoys the living hell out of me. Does anyone know how to get rid of this thing without enabling the firewall again?

Double click on the shield and to the left of the options that pop up, there's a setting for how Windows Alerts you. click on that, and then uncheck everything that it shown.
