I have just rebooted and the PC stops before entering Windows (I have XP Pro) and tells me "the following file is missing or corrupt", and refers me to a file in the system32 folder. I think the file is called "system", but the PC isn't here right now.
In any case, it says to use the recovery console to repair things, but I haven't the slightest idea how or what to do. I'm hoping it's a case of copying a fresh file from CDROM to hard drive, as I stand to lose a fair bit of stuff from my disk if I reinstall.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated,
