I just buy a new computer,it come without a recovery cd,so I wander if it is any way to make a recovery cd,what program should I use?

Norton Ghost and Powerquest Drive Image are two programs that will make disk images.

I use drive image as well.. it has saved my bacon numerous times... on the same note you can get a true recovery CD from the mfg.. what brand and model is it?

is a amd athlon 2100,i getit from a local store
"electronic barn", where can i get drive image software?

Robbie San - are you sure about getting a "true recovery" CD from the mfg???

It seems like I read and have been told on this site that the CD we can buy from HP (since our HP's have a "hidden section on the hard drive that contains the info) - doe snothing more than contain XP Home!

The Recovery CD everyone talks about here is supposedly different fromt he one we'll get from HP!

What I mean is a recovery CD that would come with the machine.. Compaq and HP for instance usually bundle a 'recovery cd' with their machines.. the cd is the original load image.. I know that tehse days they are cutting costs by putting the image on a separate partition and then making consumers pay extra to order a recovery cd..

the main reason I asked this question is that HP for instance has a recovery set for a particular series of Pavilion 54xx series.. that sort of thing.. if the guys has a clone machine then the standard Windows install plus manually updated drivers where required is fine.. for the easiest load it's best to use the mfg supplied cd where possible..
