recomended MTU/rwin settings for 2mbit (UK) ?

hi, just wondering what is the best advised MTU & Rwin setting for 2mbit ADSL in uk?

What is your DSL, PPPoE? If you want to use cablenut, I can give you the correct settings.

its a crappy Alcatel USb Speedtouch modem
(no router)

probably 1458 MTU then.

1500 with a router, but theres been so many issues with those usb modems.

No no no, if you do not have to use PPPoE authentication, which adds bytes in the header always use 1500, if you are using XP's PPPoE client the MTU is 1480, if not 1492. It does not usually matter though, as it should automatically be set to the proper values.
