Hi guys/girls, i'm not quite sure if this is the correct forum to post this kind of problem in =/ sorry if this is the wrong forum. Anyway... i'm having a strange problem with my onboard sound. See i've had a SoundBlaster Live! Value card for the longest time, but it finally crapped out on me.. an i have to resort to my onboard sound now(well again). my problem is that no matter what i've tried my green port(Fron't speaker out) does not work. the rear speaker out and mic/center/sub ports work fine. i've uninstalled all my SB live drivers, ran defrag, d/l old ac97 drivers then finally thinking that a reformatt would work.. it didn't =/.
mind you i have got the newest ac97 drivers, and enabled sound in the bios.

i've had the onboard sound installed about 8 months ago for a good period of time, with no problems at all. could that port some how of broke or something??. i still have the same speakers that i used with it previously.. when it worked fine.

any help would be greatly appricated. thank you =)

i bet more than anything that when you put in your soundblaster card, you had to unhook the front cable that connects the front speaker to the mobo.. because logically, if you aren't using the onboard sound, then your speaker outs will be hooked to the soundcard.. the reason the back speaker outs work is because those are hooked right to the board.. the front one is probably still connected to the SB card. this is where you have to actually go in the computer... this isn't a software problem, so yes, you've got this in the right forum.

hmm i never had a cable from my sb card that i've used with this motherboard. i just slapped it in the pci slot cableless. didn't unhook anything or hook anything new up. nor have i any cables on my sb card. though, tomorrow i will double check all my connections dealing with sound in my case.

thanks for the quick response =) though.

keep the suggestions comming guys =)

Welcome KickboXer692. :)

Maybe n0d3 hit it. You might have knocked a cable when uninstalling the card.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
