Wow!.
I've just been reading an article in Future Publishing's PCFormat magazine
about BT's futurologist Ian Pearson,
and if what he predicts is to pass then we will have one hell of a ride hehe.
There's also a good chance if you're under 30 you'll want to read this even more...

"...we'll be able to keep our bodies in good shape for very much
longer when we have mature biotech ansd nanotech, say in 50 years time.
That itself will make our lifespans increase to over 100 for most of us. But our
bodies will still die. Our minds can carry on in cyberspace since we will be
able to make a backup by then, and just copy it to an android body when our
own body dies. So biological death won't be the end, it'll just be like changing
your car with a feeling of sadness saying goodbye to the old one, but joy in
moving into the better new with all the bells and whistles. Death won't be a
career problem any more. It really annoys me that i'm too old to benefit from
this and will be the last generation to die. Anyone under the age of 30 has a
very good chance of immortality"

Very very interesting stuff, will take a closer look at it before commenting further :)

I remember at my elementary school there were books from the 50's and 60's showing and saying what life will be like in the year 2000. It showed massive skyscapers, flying cars, and a bunch of other futuristc things. IMO this is no different, in 2030 and 2040 people will laugh at this....still kinda of a cool thought though

Haha...gotta love modernists/futurists. They ensure that we have good science fiction films for years to come. :p

I doubt that much of that will ever happen, but nanotechnology is supposed to dramatically change our lives. I believe that to be true, but whether that is a good or bad thing is yet to be seen.

Melon

I know what mean about the nanotech melon.
Seems alarming just how fast we are evolving.
I don't think we have the means to fully understand what we've already discovered.
Yet we plug on into the unknown, trying new things with little thought of consequence.
Trying new things is always good, but we need to fully take stock of what we have already.
It seems that too many are striving to be the first to invent/create something, with not much regard as to why? to what practical end?
Or the implications therein.
Just imho.;)

Anyone remember when everyone knew PC's would never
need more than 640k? :D

Geffy:...lol you perv :p
