I have the specs listed below. and i was wondering about RAID. I have 4 ports, IDE 0, 1, 2, 3,. IDE 0+1 work for all non-RAID devices. What i want to do it know if i can use the ports 2+3 without using RAID with hard drives. I can you can not use ATAPI devices on them, but is it possible to add the entra Hard drives on 2+3 and have all CD-ROM drives on 0+1? (this is not a RAID config.)

i use the raid channels as regular ide channels....
i have master hdd on ide 0
slave hdd on a raid channel ide 2
dvdrom/cd burner on ide1
at first nothing on the raid channels would get recognized....then i realized that i did not enable onboard raid

i just enabled onboard raid in my bios.......oh and then i installed the latest drivers for it too............then it worked fine...
im using the raid channels as regular ide......
i have no clue bout raid setups tho
