Question about Sound

How can I change the volume for example winamp down so that I can hear music while having my game music be louder. I cant find a program or anything that will allow me to change the volume of one lower than another application using sound. Do I need to get a Sound card? Thks

If you don't have a soundcard I take it you have sound built into the mobo which probably doesn't support multichannel

I know that if I run two copies of winamp I can change the volumes on them within each winamp and the sound of each file is changed.

So are you saying that when you change the volume in winamp using the slider bar then when you play a game the music in winamp jumps up to game volume or that if you use the in game volume adjustments that it ends up adjusting both winamp and the game?

Exactly. If I try to change winamp volume it affects all the programs. My system says that I have an intel Ac'97 Audio controller. Now I would like to be able to change individual volume for each audio program I have running.

yup, you've got on-board sound. look into getting something with multi-channel capability

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
