Quake[3] fix for XP

My problem is when i quit quake3, most of the time it crashes my entire computer and i have to hit the reset button.

I recently found a quake 3 fix for XP in the forums but i cant get to the actual fix, so if someone could help i would be that happiest xp gamer in town

I think that same fix can be downloaded as one of the various windows updates///

Well i cant find those updates so i'm screwed until somone points me in the right direction.

I've tried win2k compatibility more on quake3.exe and it doesnt help, it still crashed my box on quitting.

I've been there, as it tells you to do in the link i put in my first post:

the problem is, the update is not in there and if i look in the updates that have been installed i dont see update number q308361 in the list, so i'm guessing the update has never taken place, and i hope so, since quake3 still crashes when i quit.

Perhaps i'll uninstall all the updates i've done to windows and reinstall them since now quake 3 is installed and it will see it?

chances are not..

I got a cam plugged in and i know full well that there is an update for it on the XP site. yet once again it isnt showing up.. good job really as all it does is screw the cam up...

and im running 23.11 viddy drivers LOL weres the 23.12's gone..

stupid dumass crap microsoft.

There is a full list (hopefully) of XP updates over the past 12 months.
