I have noticed a lot of people askin whether a PSU will have enough power to keep their PC alive

Most of the time I give them a copy of this text file, but here it is in plain.
Simply add up the different bits, I usually use the high end values. Then add about 100W just to make sure.

So basically my 250 watt PSU that came with my computer wont be able to handle all my hardware (I reaalized lately that the computer wont shutdown standby or restart) Im concerned though I went to compaqs site and they dont have any info on upgrading my PSU all they have are replacement parts.

you should be able to get a Enermax or Antec PSU which should handle your needs, or goto Compaq site, and look for a shopping section. They might have more powerful PSUs there. Check the dimensions of your compaq PSU it should be the standard size, but you never know.

I dont actually know what standard size, is. Mine is about 8.75 tall and 14.5 long, the width would have to be pretty much the same for PC case widths.

I checked there site, and the PSU's that they have are direct repacements they have no upgrades, I'll be contacting customer support to see what they have to say.
Thanks for the quick reply.

so in that case I need 400 w of psu, right now I have 300w antec. My pc working great o/c cpu and 9700 pro. but when I attach a little 12v fan on mobo the da*e asus probe(when I turn it on) keep showing up with the Voltage meter where the 12+v is over 13.184 points(After I disconneted the fan).

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
