PC Power and Cooling is the best, Then I'd go with an OCZ GamerXtreme or whatever replaced the Powerstream.

well i know i cant go with the extreme cpu because, well no one makes a psu with the power i'd need, even with the clovertown cpu, which i don't think is out for retail yet, i'm pushing 900watts.

and yes folding will be activated..... so watch out, cause i am probably going to have two of these puppies.

Ok i am putting together this pc, and i need to know a) what you guys think of it for a crunching pc, and second, what kind of psu should i get for it.

5x Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive $1,149.95

the first 4 hd's will be in raid 0 and the 5 will be a standalone for the os.

My only comment and concern would be the 4 drives in a raid 0.. thats 4 times the chance of failure and if 1 drive fails, the whole volume fails. Thats 600GB of storage that is lost (assuming you fill the raid 0 volume) and even if you only fill it half way, that's 300GB of storage that you need to worry about backing up and restoring if a single drive in the array fails.

I noticed that the board supports a RAID 10 config (and if it is true RAID 1+0 and not raid 0+1) then I would recommend that config over a straight single volume. You'll still get blistering read performance and good write performance at the expense of space (you would end up with 300GB total storage on that volume instead of 600GB)

well i am now probably going to go with raid 5 instead. so i'll have a total of 450gb. which i'm not sure is enough... i may have to go with scsi instead.
