PS2 Hard drive swapping question

Would it be okay to ask here at OSNN if I can swap out my PS2 Hard drive?

If I can ask, what size and spec's is the one in there now, what size and spec's can I swap up to?

I thought the ps2 hdd == 8gb? or something like that...

are you looking to mod it in a swap or use a ps2 authorised swap?

I was thinking of doing it myself, using an extra 40gig 2mb cache, 7200rpm Maxtor that I have laying around here.

Will I be able to do it myself, or do I need specialty tools. I build my own PC's so I would be able to do it myself if it just involves regular tools.

I actually didn't know that Sony did authorized swaps. Wow, learn something new everyday.
