Promise ATA133 TX2 IDE card problem

i have the latest bios, and xp drivers for this card, the problem is this.

i take the card out and the pc is at desktop, fully loaded in 20 seconds flat.. 100% useable.

i put the card back in and i see the desktop in 15 seconds, but no taskbar for about 60 seconds, then 5 seconds of loading and the pc is at a fully useable desktop.

This is nothing to do with networking before i get told to disable this that and the other. tried all that b4 i realised it was the controller card.

the card runs 4 hard drives., unplugging the hard drives and im booted in 20 seconds again.

It is not 1 drive playing up, i disconnected each 1 in order etc to check that. still the same.

any ideas anyone ?

I found with the promise ATA100 card, the pc loaded slower than if I ran the HDD on my old mobo at UDMA33 lol (it was an ATA100 hdd).

I read somewhere on here about needing to edit boot.ini or something?
