Our 6tb nas at work is having issues, the os, which is a linux based os on the nas, reports that everything is ok, but we are getting read write errors and/or slow transfer speeds.

Is there a program that we can run from one of our servers or desktops to test a nas out?

thanks

If you can somehow get into the underlying os, you could run an fsck to check for file system errors. If the OS is reporting just from SMART drive data then it could be easily be wrong. SMART is not all that accurate and often misses things.

I don't know if some Acronis tool might be able to run a remote scan or something.

no nothing, sorry geffy for some reason i didn't see your post until now.

its a customised linux os, the smart is crap, it has a crap load of scanning programs within the raid section, but they are crap as well, because i know for a fact one of the drives is faulty.

We updated the software and it has not crashed up for 3 days, but i'm still dubious as my pc was getting read/write errors from the machine.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
