Program Installed Log

Is there a way to keep a updated record of all the programs I have stored on my computer? Like a log of programs installed that is updated every so often (weekly etc.). Probaly could wwrite a btach file for this but was wonder if there are any tools or features with tools I can use for this. I am using this a backup information in case my computer crashes. Thanks.

You could do this from a command line, or put it into a batch file (obviously changing the txt file value name) -

regedit /e <name of file.txt> "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall"
