Problems With Xp

hey , i have some problems with xp first the shut down problem which mean it restarts instead of turning off, secodnly whenever i start up the pc it always check the drive for consistency can i stop it? and also whn i use internet explorer ie 6 , i get an illigal operation it must close.

and sometime when i come onto the destop it says windows has recovered from a seroius error it does that quite alot
