Problems with Pro Evolution Soccer 6

Hello everybody!

Well, I got a new laptop with Vista recently, and the componants is pretty much better than in the old one. Now I have a AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz, 2GB RAM and a Geforce Go 7600. PES 6 went fine on 1280x800 with medium graphics on my older XP system with 512MB RAM and a ATI Radeon something graphiccard (don't remember right now), but now on Vista and on 1440x900 with medium graphics, the game mostly runs on 60 FPS but it drops under a second or two now and then, making a really disturbing influense on the experience since a footballgame is a game there you want to have everything under control. The strange thing is that the game runs as good, or at least so that you can't see any big difference, on high graphics, only the dips are still there.

In other games, I see better performance than on my old computer even though Vista might not use the full power of the componants.

Have tested a lot of different drivers, now running on the 165.01 Forceware beta driver.

Re: Pes 6

I may not be able to help you too much (other than some generic help) but for clarification purposes, i'm assuming you are talking about Pro Evolution Soccer 6, correct?

edit:
Also, the ATI card may well have been a better video card than your GeForce GO card on your laptop. Do you know how much video RAM was on each card?

XP may also provide better gaming performance than Vista.. especially with all the problems that Vista has been having lately with NVidia chipsets

Re: Pes 6

There's two things two point the finger at here:

Turions are horrid mobile processors. nVidia is crap under vista :)

Pop XP back on the laptop until nvidia get their vista stuff sorted out.

Re: Pes 6

Yeah, it's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 I'm talking about.

Well, as you said XP may be better for gaming, but then the strange thing is that games like Desperados 2 and Test Drive: Unlimited are going much, much better on the Vistacomputer, which makes it strange that PES 6, that has Vista support, doesn't run good.

Re: Pes 6

It is confusing when people make generic statements about a particular company that may not be entirely true.

I have a Geforce 6800GT and it runs fine on Vista. I can play any game or run any app just fine. I can even run games on Vista that would not run at all on XP.

Is it mostly the newer cards that have problems with Vista?

Re: Pes 6

It's the nvidia drivers. They are very buggy and very unstable on vista.

the 100 series isn't that great on XP either. What I said is very true, a quick search on google will present you with hundreds of links showing you similar sentiment.

It will be some time yet before nvidia is a viable vista gaming platform.

Agree. I'm using the nvidia drivers I got from WU and everything is running smooth. Tried the 158.18, but I rolled back to the WU ones. And by the way, CHEERS GUYS

From the various posts it sounds like the newer the Nvidia card the more likely you are to have problems with the early VISTA drivers. People with 7800 and 6800 cards all seem to be running well on VISTA with the latest drivers.

If most games are running well on the new laptop then consider reinstalling PES.

If that does not work then there may be an issue with the current drivers and PES trying to take advantage of VISTA specific features. The solution there is to be patient and wait for the fully optimised VISTA drivers.

So like I said: It's the drivers..... The hardware is very capable, but with crap drivers it might as well be a chocolate teapot.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
