Problem with XP no recognizing CD load

After XP updates, I have encountered three programs that won't recognize CD to load ie games. Can download off cd but upon activation, error comes up reading please put in appropriate CD. This started after updates.

I have cleaned CD's, updated bios and nothing has worked as of yet.

Try this. Uninstall your CD-ROM drivers. Shut down the PC, and unplug the CD-ROM. Turn you system back on. Once it turns on, shut it down and plug back in your CD-ROM. This will cause your CD-ROM to reinstall using the newer drivers that are featured in the XP updates.

Thanks everybody, got extreme and dumped HD

Cleared hard drive and reinstalled XP. Seems like everything is running better and it cleaned up all of the problems. Beware: Read all XP updates before you download and do a restore before you download. Thanks everybody.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
